On a supported iPad with an Apple Pencil, you can assign a separate action to your finger input. This allows your Pencil to draw while your finger performs a different function, like panning or selecting.

How to Configure Finger Action

  1. Tap the Settings gear on the status bar to open the Settings menu.
  2. Navigate to the Stylus tab.
  3. Find the “Finger Action” section and choose your preferred option.

Available Finger Actions

  • Do Nothing: Your finger will not draw or interact with the canvas, providing excellent palm rejection.
  • Use Active Tool: Your finger will use the same tool as your Apple Pencil.
  • Pan Canvas: Use your finger to navigate the canvas, which is helpful when your Pencil is in hand.
  • Nudge: Your finger will gently move and adjust lines instead of drawing.
  • Selection: Use your finger to select items, providing a convenient shortcut.
  • Configured Tool: Your finger will draw with the tool assigned to the eighth slot on your Tool Wheel.
