On a supported iPad with an Apple Pencil, you can assign a separate action to your finger input. This allows your Pencil to draw while your finger performs a different function, like panning or selecting.
How to Configure Finger Action
- Tap the Settings gear on the status bar to open the Settings menu.
- Navigate to the Stylus tab.
- Find the “Finger Action” section and choose your preferred option.
Available Finger Actions
- Do Nothing: Your finger will not draw or interact with the canvas, providing excellent palm rejection.
- Use Active Tool: Your finger will use the same tool as your Apple Pencil.
- Pan Canvas: Use your finger to navigate the canvas, which is helpful when your Pencil is in hand.
- Nudge: Your finger will gently move and adjust lines instead of drawing.
- Selection: Use your finger to select items, providing a convenient shortcut.
- Configured Tool: Your finger will draw with the tool assigned to the eighth slot on your Tool Wheel.
