The memory warning appears when your drawing file is becoming too large for your device's available RAM. This puts the app at risk of crashing. Here is what you can do to manage your drawing's file size.

How to Reduce Memory Usage

Concepts is a vector app, so every stroke is saved as data. More strokes and large images increase memory use.

  • Use the Slice tool to permanently erase unneeded parts of strokes. The Mask tool only hides data, it does not remove it from the file.
  • Select and delete any large images or complex strokes you no longer need.
  • Split a complex project into multiple smaller drawing files. You can copy and paste elements between drawings.
  • Restart your device to clear its temporary memory.

Advanced Workflow for Large Drawings

If your drawing is very complex, you can flatten parts of it to reduce memory load.

  1. Export your drawing, or just a few layers of it, as a transparent PNG.
  2. Create a new drawing.
  3. Import the PNG you just created. You can now continue sketching on top of it.

Important: The number of strokes a drawing can handle depends on your device. Devices with less memory may see warnings around 5,000 strokes, while high-end devices can often handle more than 30,000 strokes.
