Concepts uses two layering modes to organize your drawing: Automatic and Manual. The default mode is Automatic, which simplifies organization by sorting strokes based on the tool you use.

Automatic Mode (Default)

In Automatic mode, each tool type draws on its own dedicated layer. This keeps your work organized without needing to manage Layers manually. The default layer order from top to bottom is:

  • Measurements
  • Text
  • Wire Brush
  • Pen (Pen, Fountain Pen, Dynamic Pen)
  • Airbrush
  • Marker
  • Pencil (Hard and Soft Pencils)
  • Images
  • Grid

You can manually reorder these layers by dragging them in the Layers menu.

Important: The Slice and Nudge tools can edit strokes on the Active layer or across All layers. You can toggle this setting at the bottom of the screen when these tools are active.

Manual Mode

To gain full control, you can switch to Manual mode. Open the Layers menu and tap the layer you want to draw on. This will make it the active layer for any tool. In Manual mode, you can create multiple layers for the same tool type (e.g., three separate Pen layers).
