Use Shape Guides as flexible on-canvas stencils to draw precise lines, angles, arcs and shapes. You can adjust them to any size or angle.
Guide Features
When you activate a Shape Guide, you will see a few key elements:
- The guide boundary: This gray area shows the shape of your active tool’s stroke. Draw anywhere on the screen to trace it.
- Handles: These circles on the guide can be dragged to stretch or shrink the shape.
- Crosshairs: Tap+Drag the crosshairs in the center to move the entire guide without changing its shape.
Crosshair Shortcuts
Double-tap the crosshairs for a special function specific to each guide:
- Line: Constrains your stroke to the path between the two handles.
- Arc: Snaps to a perfect half-circle.
- Angle: Snaps to a 90-degree angle.
- Ellipse: Snaps to a perfect circle.
- Rectangle: Snaps to a perfect square.
Pro Tip: Combine Shape Guides with Measure to create precisely dimensioned drawings. Measurement labels appear on the guide. Tap a label to make it a permanent object on your canvas. Tap+Hold a label to edit its value with the keyboard.
